Take the pump out of the header tank, turn it upside down, if it works like that then the "fingers" on the commutator are worn and you need either a complete pump or a new motor. Alde only do a complete pump at £111 or there abouts. Motor is available elsewhere at £53 +vat p&p etc. I do have new motors at less than that, contact me if you are interested.

If a alde heating pump works out of water when flicking the impeller it may be due to a poor electrical connection ( maybe corroded )This is because when the impeller is in the water the extra resistance causes the poor electrical connection to break down.
