Bailey Beachcomber 500/5 1996 Hub Nut Torque Setting

by Vinnie
(East Anglia)

I was wondering if any one could help. I have just carried out a service and have the new Alko hub nuts ready to fit and wanted to know the hub nut torque setting for them in Nm. I have been advised of 290NM is this correct please?

A torque setting of 290Nm seems a bit high. I have a Bailey Indiana and the torque setting for my alloy wheels is 110Nm and it would be slightly less for steel wheels (88Nm). You should also rememeber to tighten your bolts in the correct sequence (i.e. North, South, East, West). It is as dangerous to overtighten bolts as it is to not tighten them sufficiently. I would try contacting Bailey direct via their website and ask them the correct torque setting for your caravan. Their website address is www.bailey-caravans.co.uk.
