Battery not charging when caravan connected to mains - Bailey Senator Indiana

by Wendy
(Worcester)

We are new to all this so apologise if not using correct terms!

Just setting up for the season and after having purchased a new battery because we thought the old appeared dead we have realised that it must be something wrong inside the caravan as even the new battery was dead after just a few hours?

It is hooked up to the mains 240v electric so should be trickle charging the battery but it isn't!

Any ideas please.

Battery not charging
by: Jim Smith

Had very same problem. I bought a new charger unit and fitted it myself. It is located under the l/h bench seat behind the consumer unit.

It is a fiddle to remove the woodwork and then open the box. Find what looks like your kettle lead and unplug it from the charger.

replace the charger (around 100 quid).

rebuild box and refit the wood work. It really is quite easy once you find the box.

Hi Wendy

Try this page:

Sounds like your on-board trickle charger may be not working.

First check all your fuses are ok, then check if the charger has a switch, it may be off and finally use a multi-meter to check there is current coming from the charger, the battery should read around 13 volts while being charged.
