Question: Joining Two Aquarolls
You mention joining two Aquarolls together - how do I go about doing that?
Hi Jane
To connect two Aquarolls together, fill both of them up. In one Aquaroll insert your submersible pump as normal and connect it to the caravan. In the other Aquaroll insert a piece of food-grade hose (from your local caravan dealer or accessory shop). Now, just like using a straw, suck on the other end of the hose until the water starts flowing and then insert the end into the Aquaroll which has your pump already in it. Now everytime your pump draws water from the Aquaroll it will be replenished via the hose from your other Aquaroll. Just remember to use a suitable length of hose so that it touches the bottom of the Aquaroll. It's as simple as that!!

From: David Question: Axle Stands Was looking at your info on overwintering, very good info although I knew most of the stuff you mention. One thing though that comes to mind while reading it, where did you get your axle stands from? I have mine sitting at the moment on a combination of brick with wood protection for the axle, but would much prefer proper stands.Hi David Regarding the axle stands, Halfords and Amazon (look on our Overwintering page) sell good ones which are basically the same as the ones we have. Ones which have wheel chocks included are a good idea! |
From: John Question: Tilting TV I have noticed from your pictures on the website that your TV on your Bailey Senator Indiana seems to tilt. I am sure that mine doesn't! How did you manage to do this? I looked at the back of the TV - to my amusement there is a label concealed behind it which says to stow the TV low down when travelling! Very useful! Like those food cartons which say keep upright but print the cooking instructions underneath. Many thanks.Hi John With regard to the tilting of the TV, I bought a new bracket that could tilt. I then took the fixed part on the swivel panel off and used it as a template on the new one. Having marked where the holes should go, I just drilled them out and fixed it back on the swivel panel. I did this so I did not have to make new holes on the swivel panel. Hope you can understand all of that. It's not heavy engineering!! You only have to mark out the holes and drill the. It took me 20 minutes at the most. The tilting tv bracket we got was on offer at Sainsburys! They sell them in most shops e.g. Homebase etc. It cost between £10 - £15. |

Question: Caravan Damp Accessories
I am worried about damp in my caravan - do you know of any special items that can help in caravans/small places? I have seen dry-bag dehumidifiers and plug-in dehumidifiers but have no idea what is best for a caravan.
Hi Tracy
With regard to your question, if you are worried about damp in your caravan, I would suggest that you have your van tested for damp which can easily be done by your local dealer. They will use a proper damp detector (not one of those cheap ones you can buy over the counter).
Damp is caused by water ingress from outside - usually via the awning rail, light fixings, etc. By having your van tested at your local dealer means that they will be able to tell you how to rectify any problems they find.
If you have already had your caravan tested to damp and it is clear, I would not use a dehumidifier. What we tend to do when we are not using the van for a long period, i.e. over winter, is to remove all soft furnishings and then give the van a good airing every 2 weeks or so (a dry and breezy day is best for this).
You could use a condensation trap in the form of crystals, which will be much cheaper than a dehumidifier.
