Reich Move motor mover not driving forward

by David Spencer
(Leyland)

My Reich move control motor mover has suddenly stopped driving forward, reverse is not a problem. I have tried doing a reset but this has not changed the situation. I have not yet had time to inspect the problem further, I would like to hear from anyone who has had a similar situation.

Can anyone suggest anything David can try?

by: Maurice

I have just bought a 2002 fleetwood 450 with a Reich mover the man who exchanged the van never left the remote where i bought the van gave me a remote and said it needs resetting there is no switch off point its wired from batt to box can any one give me a clue where do i start as the caravan sale's man wasn't very helpful. as i am 75 and need to get this working sooner than later I live in Newcastle on tyne wood appreciate any help

Try This:
1: Turn off the Power to the Electronic Box (Using the Red Key)
2: Press in the reset button on the Electronic Box.
3: Switch on the Power to the Electronic Box(using the Red Key)
4: Swith the Handset on and off 3 times - on the 4th time leave the Hanset on.

The System should now be Re Set - Test each button on the Handset pressing only one Button at a time - each roller should work in acordance to each button you press.

Good luck - our mover has packed up altogether on several occasions - Reich have changed the mother boards and remote - try re-setting it or if not ring Reich at Stafford and ask for Dave Warner or Rick Gorton and see if they can help.

I have a Freedom Jetstream fibreglass caravan. I would like an economical model but can't find a model that will fit. Has anyone had one fitted or know of one?

The best advice I can offer is to contact Freedom Caravans direct. They should be able to give you all the advice that you need. If you log onto their website at www.freeedomcaravans.com, there is a contact section there.

Reich Caravan Mover

by Steve
(Halifax)

Do you know if I can get the rollers re-coated and who will do them please?

I am not sure if these rollers can be re-coated. I know rollers on the some early models of the Reich movers did tend to wear out due to their composition of grit and resin and both the rollers and mountings would have to be replaced.

I would try to contact a supplier of Reich motor movers and ask them what they would suggest.

Is there anyone who has a Reich Motor Mover who can help Steve?

Re-coating of rollers
by: alanpaddocks

I have been informed by Reich that there is no provision for re-coating of the rollers. Their only solution is to replace them with the newer alloy version, which are approx 505 of the weight of the original ones. Problem is the cost - £75 per roller. That adds up when you have four of them!

Which Caravan Mover to Buy?

by Sasha
(Herts UK)

I have a four berth single axle caravan that I want to get a mover for. Are all motor movers equal or are some more equal than others?! I don't want to spend a fortune and think one with automatic wheel engagement may be a good idea as I am not very strong and think I may struggle with a manual. Will also need a company with a fitting service as I won't be tackling it myself. Many thanks

Motor movers do vary in price and quality, but at the end of the day, they all do the same job. I would advise that you try your local caravan dealer and see what they can offer you. As a ball park figure you would be looking at about £800 fitted.

Caravan Mover

by Jim Forbes
(Glasgow)

I have a very old (1992) Elddis Force 2 van and would like to know if it can be fitted with a mover that will push it up my drive which is on a slope.

It should not be a problem. I would not advise fitting one yourself unless you are confident that you will be able to fit it. I would advise that you go to your local caravan dealer and see what deal they can offer you. You would probably looking at £800+ to have one fitted. You could also consider a mover which attaches to your hitch, something like a Mr Shifta. These are considerably cheaper but I have never used one, so cannot comment on how good they are.

We have been told that some models can not be fitted due to the low chassis on our caravan. Are there any movers which would be suitable or conversion kits for fitting one available?

Battery for my Reich Mover

by Terry
(West Wales)

I am having problems with a 9 volt battery which I use for a caravan mover. Recently I tried a Duracell ultra power battery and used this once on site, came home and went to use it again but the mover didn't work again.

The mover works fine when I put the cable into the control box of the mover itself, therefore I don't know if I have a problem with the remote or the new 9 volt battery?

Have I a problem buying dud batteries or do I have a problem with the mover itself.
(I have even bought several new 9 volt batteries but they do not last!)

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Not being an expert in movers, I would suggest that you speak to National Vehicle Solutions. If you give them a ring on 0844 846 1707, they will be able to advise you exact what your problem is.

Truma SE Caravan Mover

by Albert Sutherland
(Fraserburgh, Aberdeenshire)

Turned my single axle Swift caravan round 180* using the motor mover. Near side mover would not turn but after a tap with a small hammer the roller started but it sounded like a tin of loose nuts and bolts being rattled. Is there any way to lubricate and or grease the mover or would this be the end of my mover. Actually sounds like a seized bearing. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Enduro Caravan Mover

by Paul
(Coventry)

I have a problem with the near side motor not working off the remote control. I have hot wired across the caravan from offside to nearside using the offside connectors from the relay box to the nearside motor which will then work with the roller going around but only back and forward. So therefore I have concluded the main motor is ok at the wheel. I have tightened the contacts at both ends so good contact is made.
has anyone else had this problem relay seems to be making right noise i.e clicking when remote pressed.

Not being really familiar with motor movers, I would suggest that you contact National Vechicle Solutions. They are the experts and will give you all the advice that need. Their contact details can be found on our website under the page Caravan Movers.

Power Motor Mover

Do the ABI Award Northstar caravans have power motor mover with a remote to move it as I'm not sure if we have one on our caravan? Many thanks.

I should imagine that unless it was was sold as a dealer special with a motor mover included, it would not have come with one. Motor movers are not normally installed on caravans as a standard peice of equipment.
