Bathroom Tap Has No Pressure

by Debbie
(Hampshire, England)

I fitted a new shower head with hose to the existing tap. Now I don't have any pressure. The water is coming out but only a trickle. The water in kitchen is fine with good pressure. This is a pressurised system as opposed to micro switch. Do you have any ideas? Would be much appreciated.

As with all pressurised systems, the switch is able to detect a drop in pressue in the water supply pipes. A loss of pressure can occur if there is a faulty connection in one of the pipes which will send a false message to the pump. The best way to resolve this would be to refit your shower head and hose making sure that it is totally air tight and then see if it works again. If you still have no pressure, try making an adjustment to the setting control on the switch to make it less sensitive.

Water Problem

by William Hunter
(NI)

I have just connected the water to my caravan after the winter. I have good pressure at the bathroom but just a small stream of water at kitchen tap - help please.

It sounds as if you need to change the microswitch on the kitchen taps. In can be a bit fiddly but is not a difficult job. Go to your nearest caravan dealer and tell them the model of your tap and they should be able to supply you with the correct switch.

Faulty Tap

Do you know where I can find instructions to repair a faulty tap in the bathroom of my Swift Challenger 510 SE caravan as there is no water from the cold tap? Thanks.

It sounds as though you have a faulty microswitch on the cold tap. Depending on the model of the tap is dependent on the location of the microswitch. If you have a Whale Elegance mixer tap, the the microswitch is more than likely located under your sink. To replace the micro switch, reach under the sink and on the cold water side of the tap, locate and slip off the rectangular spring collar. Ease out the microswitch from its mounting but leave the terminals in place whilst you are doing this. Now, when you are in a comfortable position detach the terminals. Don't worry about remembering the position they go back in, because they can be fitted either way round. Then replace with a new switch and put it back together.

Onboard Water Tanks

by Alan

I am seriously thinking of purchasing a Lunar Solaris 2007 twin axle caravan. Could anybody tell me if there is a water tank onboard please? Many thanks.

I think the only 2007 model in the Lunar range that was fitted with an onboard water tank was the Delta. So unless it was fitted with a tank as an extra, I don't think it has one. You could always double check by contacting Lunar direct via their website at www.lunarcaravans.com.

Pressure switch location on a 1989 Swift Rapide

by Tony
(S64 9EE)

I need to adjust the pressure switch on my pre loved Swift Rapide 1989 model where the switch is has so far eluded me. I think the thing keeps hopping about so I cannot find it. (Only joking) :)

It all depends on what sort of system you have.
Some switches are built into the casing of the diaphragm pump, some have in-line switches and are located with the filter in a bed box, while the Whale Watermaster has a pressure sensitive switch in its wall socket.

Does anyone own a Swift Rapide and could advise Tony as to where this switch is?

Elusive Pressure switch & Adjuster.
by: Myself

I was told it was under the seat / bed behind the water connector plug, but was not so, however armed with this information, traced the adjuster to the compartment under a board in the wardrobe, sculcking behind a pipe but not out of view and unable to escape. After several attempts at trying the adjusting process and failing miserably, bought a new replacement and am now up and running, everything is working correctly so off this weekend for its maiden voyage. If he can find a maiden to go with him that is :) he he.

There should be a drain tap located on the front offside of the caravan.

Hot Water

by Alan Lynch
(Stourport)

I've connected water up for the first time this year, the cold water flows ok but I cannot get the hot water to flow in the kitchen or bathroom.
Its a Carver heater and our Caravan is a Bailey Pagent mMagenta 1997.

You might have a faulty micro switch on one of your taps or the heater non return valve could be faulty. I would suggest that you ask your local caravan dealer to have a look at it.

Abbey Shower Tap

by Adi
(Doncaster)

We own a 2004 Abbey Aventura 325, on our last outing we noticed the shower tap was leaking from the back. This happened to the basin tap which was easily replaced with a new one which looked like the old one, not long after buying it. However we are struggling to get a new shower tap which looks the same, contacted local swift group dealer and they got back a day later and politely said they could not help us. Does anyone on here know where we can get one from preferably new, or at least the manufacturer who made taps for Abbey caravans in 2004.

Look forward to your help.

Thanks in advance.

Your best bet would be to try your local dealer. There is a dealer in Bawtry who I think deal in Abbey caravans and they might be able to help you.
They are called Yorkshire Caravans of Bawtry nd their website address is yorkshirecaravans.com .

Draining Down Procedure

by Paul

Can you tell me where the drain down points are on a Atlas Topaz Super static van. Also the correct procedure to drain down for the winter. A manufacturers quide was not given to me when I purchased the van, can anyone tell me where the best place is to get one. Many thanks.

We can't really help you with this one as we know nothing about static caravans, only touring caravans! BUT we would suggest you have a look at www.atlas-caravans.co.uk as they have a Brochure and Download section on their website which, I am sure, will help.

Does anyone have any other suggestions for Paul?

Water Pressure Problem

by Trivena

Does anyone know the reason why I have good hot water pressure in the basin and shower but poor flow in kitchen - does anyone know the reason for this?

You problem is probably caused by a faulty microswitch in your kitchen taps. These can be replaced but is quite a fiddly job to do. I would advise that you ask your local dealer to do it for you.

Water Pressure

My submersible caravan water pump for Aquaroll is rated at 20psi pressure. I want to fit a General Ecology Water filter which requires a MINIMUM of 20psi pressure. Can I fit an inboard booster pump to raise the pressure to the filter or is the only answer to fit an (expensive) higher pressure internal pump?

The best advice would be to ask your local dealer. Their workshop mechanics should be able to give you the advice you are looking for.

Water Taps

by Stephen
(N/Ireland)

The water taps in my touring caravan in the bathroom won't work unless I run the water in the kitchen. Does anyone know what the problem would be? Many thanks.

This could be caused by a faulty micro-switch on your bathroom taps. Try changing the micro-switch and see if that works. It is not a difficult job but it is a bit fiddly. Go to your local caravan dealer and tell them the model of your tap and they should be able to supply you with the correct micro-switch. If you are not confident of doing it yourself, ask them to do it for you.

Low Water Pressure in Shower

by Kim
(Stockport)

We have a Fleetwood Heritage 640EB 2002. My partner really would like to get the shower working with a better water flow. Can anyone tell us if this is a general problem or can it be adjusted?

Thank you.

Pressure loss can be caused by a faulty connection in one of the pipes and although it might not cause a leak, it can send a false signal to the pump. Finding the leak and resealing it would be the best solution but this can be time consuming. You could try adjusting the setting control on the switch to make it less sensitive.

Cleaning Water Heater And Pipework

by Mark Jenkins
(Gourock -Scotland)

What is the best way of cleaning all the fresh water pipework and Truma heater in my 2003 Coachman Amara 520/4 after a winter of sitting idle? I can't seem to find any filters in the system. Are there any I need to replace on a routine basis?

You should have a taste filter which should be replaced each season. This is usually replaced during your annual service.

For cleaning your pipework, try using a product called Puriclean. It is very easy to use and you be able to buy this from your local caravan dealer or you could try somewhere like Towsure.

All Water Pipes Have Come Off The Taps

by Peter

All my water pipes have come off the taps, even with a jubilee clip on them. wWhat is the cause of this please? (shower mixer, wash basin and sink mixer).

I should imagine that water pressure has forced the pipes because the jubilee clips holding the pipes in place were not tightened enough. Try re-postioning the pipes and re-tighten the jubilee clips.

Water Pressure Problem

by Kathy
(London)

Just setting caravan up after winter but the water will not flow out of tapes properly just trickles out and splutters. The water gets pumped into the onboard tank but not sure why its not flowing right.

It could be a number of things. There could be air bubbles caught in the casing of your submersible pump. This will cause the water flow to be intermitent. To rectify this, disconnect the pump and give the pump a go shake and then reconnect it and try again. You may also have air trapped in your pipes. To get rid of the air, open all your taps until the water flows through. If this does not work, then the cause might be the 'O' ring in the pump chamber is perished. This will then allow air into parts of the assembly and the pump will not work properly.

Sterilizing Water Pipes

I was going to use Milton fluid to sterilize my caravan but I have read that it can damage the water heater. What do you advise? If you recommend Milton what dilution should I use?

We use a product called Puriclean. It is non toxic and non caustic. It is simple to use and it does not smell or taste and also does not harm any parts in the water system.

Mixer Tap Replacement

by Roger Lindley
(Yorkshire)

We have an Elddis Whirlwind 1996. The mono block lever mixer tap is broken and needs replacing. Can this be done by an old, rather heavy handed non diyer and can it be done without having to remove the sink?

Hi Roger,

Taps are not difficult to change, but can be a bit fiddly due to the lack of work space. You should not have to remove the sink to change your taps.

However, if you do not feel at all comfortable in tackling the job, you could always ask a friend who is competent at DIY or ask your local dealer to do it for you.

Taps are not cheap so it is always best to shop around. Browsing the internet to find a good deal is probably your best bet.

Water System

by Tracy
(Derby)

My husband and I have just bought a second hand caravan that has a more modern water system than we are used to. It has a carver crystal water system pump and either a carver cascade 2 or cascade 2GE water heater. The question is how do we fill the water heater as it is empty?

Firstly, you must make sure that the drain valve is closed. Then after you have filled your aquarol and inserted your submersible pump, simple switch on the pump on your control panel and it should automatically fill the heater. After the heater tank has been filled, all you have to do is switch on the water heater and wait for about 30 minutes and you should have hot water.

Water Pump

When I put switch for water pump on it keeps on going when the taps are off. Can you help?

The most likely cause is that you have air inside your submersible pump that fits into your aquaroll. Switch the pump off at the contol panel and then remove your submersible pmp and given it a good shake and then re-inert your pump and try again.

2002 Bailey Senator Arizona Water Query

I have a 2002 Bailey Senator Arizona. The first few holidays we had we were able to take water direct from our aquaroll into the caravan and out through your taps etc. Now for some reason the water goes from the aquaroll to the onboard water tank before it will come out through the taps. Surely you get the choice? I don't understand. The caravan is currently back at the place we brought it from and they don't understand either?
Please help...thanks.

Draining Water System

by Chris
(Lincolnshire)

I have a 2000 Bailey Imperial caravan. Do you know the procedure for draining down all the caravan water pipes to prevent frost damage to them? Many thanks.

There should be a drain tap either inside your caravan and is probably located next to your hot water tank or it is located under your caravan near to where you insert your submersible pump. Once you have located the tap, open it up to drain any surplus water. You could also open up your taps to help the water drain faster.

Water Filters

Do you happen to know why we NEED a new filter in the water line in our caravan? It just seems like a cash cow scam to me. But then what do I know ?

The filters are mainly there for people who use water from the caravan taps to drink from or to fill their kettle etc. We never use the tap water from our caravan to drink. What we do is to fill a Jerry can with a tap and then filter it through a water filter jug.

Does anyone know how to remove remains of plastic pressure pipe on a carver cascade water heater there was a leak at the base and when I tried to undo the pipe it snapped off flush with the heater body .there was quite a build up of salt around the pipe so assume the plastic has become brittle as well as being coroded inside .Any help would be appreciated.

You are not the first and will definitely not going to be the last that this has happened to. I did exactly the same as you on our first caravan which was an old ABI Monza. No matter what I tried, I could not budge the remaining thread. It seemed to have welded itself to the casing. In the end my wife persuade me to take it to our local dealer. They fixed the problem in an afternoon and it was as good as new. So, if like me you want to spend hours upon hours of trying to free the brokrn thread, I wish you luck. However, I would strongly recomend that you take your caravan to your local dealear and ask them to fix it for you.

Broken expansion valve on Cascade Carver
by: Stan Mcnally

Just had the same problem - found that you can cut out the old thread by cutting three slots (with small hacksaw blade) then prise old plastic out with terminal screewdriver. You must re-tap the thread - the tow ball hitch bolt is the same thread. Carefully work it into the unit until its screws in easily. Then fit new item.

Best of luck

Water Leak

The leak is between the plastic shower cubicle and the wall behind.

Can you advise that if I remove the mirror, is there likely to be an access hatch behind it?

Thank you,

Having never owned a static caravan, I would not know where to begin. If your caravan is sited on a park, have you asked any of the maintenace staff to advise you? Alternatively, you could try contacting Willerby Caravans to see if they can offer you any advice.

Low Water Pressure

WE HAVE A BESSACARR 495 CARAVAN AND UP UNTIL RECENTLY HAD NO PROBLEMS WITH THE WATER AT ALL - HOWEVER THE KITCHEN AREA TAP HAS NOW ALL BUT DRIED UP, IT RUNS AT A DRIBBLE PACE (BOTH ON HOT & COLD). WE HAVE TRIED A NEW PUMP WHICH DOES NOT MAKE ANY DIFFERENCE AND ALSO CHECKED FOR LEAKS (COULDN'T FIND ANY). THERE IS NO BUBBLING AIR LOCK SOUND TO BE HEARD AND THE SHOWER & WASH ROOM TAPS ARE FINE.

It sounds to me that you need to change the microswitch on the tap. The location of the microswitch will be dependent what sort of tap you have.

ANYONE GOT ANY IDEAS PLEASE?

Water Pressure
by: Phil

Hi, yes it is a microswitch more than likely - cost me 100 pounds for a new tap as couldn't get a separate switch.

The thing to do is fit an in-line water pump - they are under thirty pounds to buy and as I understand quite easy to fit. They detect a drop in pressure when you turn the tap on and pump the water through to all your taps, so you never have to worry about micro switches again. Hope this helps and saves you a few pennies.

Cheers

Phil

Water Taps

Hi, I have a Bailey Pageant Champagne 2005 series 5 and when using it for the first time after winter, water was coming fine out of the bathroom tap and the shower, but nothing from the kitchen tap. the pump seems to be working fine as the water is fine from the other two taps. Can't see any leakages anywhere.

Not sure how to rectify this - the kitchen tap worked for a while and then stopped completely. any ideas.

Many Thanks.

You probably have a faulty microswitch on the kitchen tap. The location of the microswitch will be dependent on what model of tap you have. They can be quite fiddly to change though.

No hot water

I Have a problem with my hot water as there is no flow through the tap cold water is fine but there is just gurgling through hot tap any suggestions anyone?

You might have an airlock. Trace all the pipes to see if there are any kinks and if you find any straighten them out and try again. It might be worth opening all your taps at the same time as this often get rid of any airlocks quicker.

On Board Water Tank

by Mrs Green
(Lancashire)

I have a Bailey Senator Indiana which we have just bought. The on board water tank low light has come on and I don't know how to fill it. Please help no manual came with the caravan.

To fill the on board tank, you have to adjust the valves to the right position. Open the pull down door under the seat on the sink side. On the inside of the door there should be a diagram showing you in what position the valves should be set to to fill your on board tank. Simple turn the valves to the correct position and then turn the pump back on and it should fill your on board tank via your aquaroll.

Truma Heater Battery

by Patrick Toothill
(WS74QD)

I think the battery that supplies the spark to ignite the heater on gas ,is flat, I have looked in my manual about how to get at the battery and it is very vague. I dont want to break anything trying to force the cover off. Thanks can you help

To get to your battery, you have to remove the front cover. To do this grab hold of the cover at the top on both sides and gentle pull forwards to release the two springs and then the cover should come away quite easily. The battery box should be located at the bottom on the left hand side. If you are still unsure, then Truma have a very good website with video instructions. Simple find the model of heater you have and there should be instructions on their website for you. Their website address is www.trumauk.com

It sounds to me from the description you have given is that you need a new roof cowl for your heating system. Your local caravan dealer should be able to supply you with one. They are not that expensive and a ball park figure would be between £10 and £15.

Loose Tap

Tap in my washand basin in my Lunar Stellar 2010 in toilet has come loose any ideas how you get to it?

If you open the cupboard below the basin, you should be able to access it form there. However, it is very tight to get to. I would suggest that you ask your local dealer to sort it out on your next service. They will have the correct know how and equipment.

Kitchen Tap

by John
(Newcastle)

When I turn my cold water kitchen tap on there is next to no water coming out just the occasional drop all the hot taps are working as well as the cold tap in the bathroom.

You either have a kink somewhere in the pipe leading to your kitchen tap or you have trapped air in the pipe. Check to see if there are no kinks or trapped air. If this does not solve the problem, then you probably have a faulty microswitch on the kitchen tap. The location of the microswitch will be dependent on what model of tap you have. They can be quite fiddly to change though. The microswitch should be easily obtained through your local caravan dealer.

Avondale Washroom Floor

by Mick Coates
(Shirley, Solihull, UK)

My caravan washroom floor has cracked by the drain. Can it be repaired or do I need to buy a brand new one? If so, do you know where I can get one from?

It all depends on how big the crack is and also if you use the shower alot. If you don't use the shower and the crack is only minor, then I would just seal it with mastic. If however you do use the shower, then I would replace the whole tray. You would probably be able to get one from a caravan breakers. You can find a list of caravan breakers on our website.

Water Not Draining From Sink

When any water is in the sink it won't drain away easily, there is no blockage in the pipe - could it be trapped air? If so, how do I rectify it?
Thanks in advance.

We have had this problem before. To rectify this, we first flushed and cleaned all the pipes. We then made sure that when we levelled up the caravan, we had it slightly lower on the drain plug side. This did help but you have to bear in mind that the actual drain pipes do have a narrow gauge.

The side water filler cap on caravans

My 1994 Adria Optima 400B has a locking water filler cap on its right hand side. What is the purpose of this filler neck? I tried inserting a hose to see if the water pump would suck water out of a water carrier directly into the onboard water tank, but it didn't seem to do that.

So what does this filler cap do? Is it purely so you can fill the water tank using a hose pipe if one is available?

I think this is for filling the flush tank for your toilet. The cap itself should be directly over the door where your waste tank cassette is housed. The best way of filling the flush tank is to use a watering can.

Water Heater wall switch make and model

by Colin
(Brighton)

I am trying to replace the gas burner module for the water heater in a LUNAR METEOR (manufactured 1997). I am struggling with compatibilty issues with replacement units.
I need to identify the make and model of the water heater wall switch - however, it is not a stand alone item - its an integral part of a complete control panel that forms the top part of a slim store cupboard. The control panel contains all the 12v & 240v switches and fuses for the caravan's electrical system.
Can anyone confirm the exact make and model of this switch?
By the way, I am a gas fitter and electrician so there is no issue about who should be fitting this unit.

Your best bet would be to contact a local Lunar dealer. They should be able to tell you the exact model and they should also be able to supply you with the parts that you need.

Water Filter Location

Can anyone tell me if my Lunar Quaser 525 year 2008 has a water filter ? if there is one where is it? I have checked the manual and it states 'if you have a water filter' so not much help to a novice!!

I presume you are talking about a taste filter. We once own a Lunar Zenith Six, and this had a taste filter fitted. The location was behind on of the cupboards in the kitchen area and was quite difficult to access. Seems stupid really. If you follow the cold feed from your kitchen tap, you should be able to locate the filter if you have a one fitted. Sorry I can't be of more help.

Do I need Aquaroll etc

I notice that the pitch I am going to in France has running water and drainage on each pitch. I presume this means I don't need an aquaroll and wastemaster? Im new to caravanning!

If this is the case, then no. What you will need however is the correct mains water connection for your caravan. Try your local caravan dealer. They should be able to supply you with the correct connection for your caravan. As for the waste, you just simply direct your waste pipes into the drain point on your pitch instead of your Wastemaster. I would however check as to where the actual drainage point is on the pitch in relation to your drain points on your caravan. You might need to buy longer pipes.

Water Pump

I have just got an ABI 520 caravan and when I turn pump on the water comes out from overflow under the water heater and all the water pumps out can anyone help me with this problem. Thanks

I think that what has happened here is the drain point for your heater has been left open. If you locate the drain point and turn it to the off position it should solve the problem.

Water Connection

Hi,
How do you connect water to the caravan? On our first trip and cannot connect the water.
Thanks.

Firstly, you will need an aquaroll or other form of water container and a submersible pump. You will need to fill your water container from the site water supply. On the side of your caravan there should be a housing with a cover for your submersible pump. Lift the cover and insert your submersible pump into the housing. The other end of the pump is inserted into your water container. Next, there should be a switch on the control panel inside your caravan to activate the power supply to your pump. Turn your switch on and you should be ready to go.

Winterizing Water Container.

How do I winterize my aquaroll water container. I want to use my caravan every weekend during the winter months and really don't want it to freeze up on me. Any advice or tips would be appreciated.

During our years of caravanning, we have seen many ways people have tried to protect their water containers from bubble wrap to using old carpet. But one of the best methods we have seen was a couple of years ago. The owner has used a jacket which is used to cover the old type household immersion tank. He had covered the entire Aquaroll and submersible pump. I did ask him how effective it was and he said that nothing had frozen on him yet!

An alternative would be to wrap your Aquaroll in an old sleeping bag.

Water Heater

A caravan we are interested in says the water heater does not work on gas but only on 240 volt mains. How can we make it work on gas as well and what parts would we need to buy to do this?

Without knowing the exact fault, I cannot advise you as to what parts you need. However, it should not be a difficult problem to fix but must be done by a qualified gas engineer. If you like the caravan and decide to buy the caravan, you could always haggle the price own based on the faults. I would then take the caravan to your local dealer and have a full service. This should then rectify any faults and give you peace of mind that your caravan should be fully operational and road worthy.

by Anthony Buckle
(Kettering Northants UK)

Hi, I have booked onto a fully serviced pitch, what do I need (if anything) apart from a hose to connect sink and shower waste to disposal? Avondale Avocet. Kind regards

On all the fully serviced pitches we have stayed on, we have just directed our waste hose into the hole provided. However, depending on the location of the hole to the waste outlet on your caravan, it might be worth purchase a longer length of pipe just in case.

Water pump ?

by Melissa
(Cambridgshire)

Just bought a second hand caravan, this is our first and we have NO idea about anything ! I have investigated in the caravan but have had no water or electric attached as yet. Its a 1990 Abbey 5 berth (no trim name but believed to be a 303 from our search on web) It has a Cascade 2 water system fitted and what looks to be a whale pressure switch that has a pipe running to the outside and the other end attatched to the cascade system, it also has a couple of wires that are not attatched to anything? What do I need as there doesn't look to be a pump. Do I need an internal one or a submersible pump? if a submersible it seems to have no power point plug type atatchment on the outside just a hose end! Can you help what do I need to buy to get water into my caravan? Thanks in advance Mel & Co.

There should be a housing with a cover on the outside of the caravan into which you insert your submersible pump. From what you have described, the previous owner has adapted this to suit their needs. Seeing as this is your first caravan and it is second hand, I would strongly advise that you take your caravan to your local caravan dealer and have it serviced. By having this done, any faults should be fixed and they should be able to sort out your water supply for you.

Water System

I have just been given a Swift Corniche 14/2 caravan. I don't know how old it is but does anyone know where I can get some micro switch bathroom taps & where the water hoses fix on to the bit the water pump is fixed on as the conection is cracked. I have tried to fibre glass it but there is still a small drip now & again.

If you visit to your local caravan dealer, you should be able to pick up everything that you need. As for the cracked water pump connection, your best bet would be to replace it. You should be able to buy that from your local caravan dealer too.

With gas and electric appliances, it is essential that these are looked at by qualified and registered technicians. I would advise that you take your caravan to your local dealer and ask them to look at it for you.

Water Pump

when I plug my water pump in to the side of my 1994 swift challenger caravan it continually runs, even when the taps are off. Sometimes water just gushes out around the edge. Do I just need a new hose and pump or do you think it is internal?

We occassionally have this problem. What we do, is turn the pump of at the control panel and then give the pump a good shake and place it back into the quaroll. Turn it back on and see if that works. You might have to do it a couple of times, but it works for us.

Lunar Premiere 516 Ecosse frozen ot water tank?

by Lizzie
(Tamworth)

Hello

I am considering buying a Lunar Premiere 516 Ecosse however the water tank froze last year and will need repairing / replacing, it is a carver cascade 2. I can find the water tanks on ebay for approx £40 to £50. Am I being naive thinking that this is a job we could probably do ourselves for little expense? Any advice would be greatly appreciated as we are new to all this caravaning stuff and need a decent van to live in foor 6 weeks while we are waiting for a house move to go through!

Yes, you could do it yourselves if you are confident enough to undertake the task. However, you must be certain that there are no other problems caused the the frozen tank. If it was my caravan, I would have it repaired by my local dealer. That would give me peace of mind that the job was done correctly.

Micro Switched Taps

I have a tap with a micro switch in it that has stopped working. The tap looks like a sealed unit. Is it possible to open the tap up and replace the micro switch?
If so please could you tell me how to do this.

Regards
Paul Inman

It depends on the model of the tap. On some taps you need to prise off the temperate cap (red/blue) and the remove the screw and the tap head should lift off revealing the the micro switch. On other taps, you will need to look under the sink and you should find the micro switch at the base of the tap.

It could be that your submersible pump has packed up. If you know anyone who has a similar pump, you could ask if you could try it on your caravan to see if that works or you could take your pump to your local caravan dealer and ask them to test it for you.

It sounds to me that the drain tap has been left open. I am not sure where it is on your model of caravan. Sometimes it is underneath the caravan. If you look to see where the water is draining from, you should be able to trace the tap from there. Once you have found, simply close it off and everything should be ok.

Micro switch for Whale caravan tap

Please could you advise as to what microswitch is needed for a Whale kitchen tap fitted in a 2001 Swift Corniche caravan 15/3. Many thanks for your help.

I think the microswitch for the Whale taps are pretty standard. However, the location of the switch will be dependant on what model of tap that you have. Some models have the switch located under the sink at the base of the tap, while others are located inside the tap at the top, which is fairly easy to access. If you can locate your microswitch, I would suggest that you remove it and take it to your local dealer and ask them for a replacement.

Could you please tell me the best way to get at the kitchen tap on a Bailey Pageant 1998 caravan as I need to replace the complete tap. Thank you for your help.

I think that the tap itself is fixed from the bottom. Try looking under the sink to where the tap is positioned and you should find the fixing point. It is more than likely that your tap has a microswitch, so don't forget to detach the wires for that before removing the tap.

Shower in Swift Corniche 16/3 1996/7 model

by Ross
(Lanarkshire)

Having just purchased a used Swift Corniche I noticed that there was a leak from the bottom of the cover which covers the pipes to the shower head, having removed this I can reconnect the pipes with no problems but there is a wire which has been taped up .i think this might be a sensor but am not sure about this. Can anybody confirm this for me or tell me what these wires are for and are they essential to the running of the shower.

To be honest I am not sure. Try asking your local caravan dealer to see if they have any idea.

Kitchen cold tap

by Martin Hall
(Poleworth)

I am having problems with the cold tape in the kitchen in my caravan. The cold tap is not working at all unless you turn on the hot or cold tap in the bathroom or the hot tap in the kitchen then the cold water comes out of the cold tap in the kitchen. Could you please advise me to what this could be.

It sounds like you have a problem with the micro switch in your tap. These can be quite fiddly to replace and the location would depend on what sort of tap that you have. You locally caravan dealer should be able to tell you exactly what you need and where to find the micro switch.

Spare Bathroom Basin Elddis Cyclone

by Michael
(Belfast N. Ireland)

Please could anyone tell me where I could get a hand wash basin for an Elddis Cyclone caravan? Many thanks for any help or information you could give me.

Your cheapest option, would be to try a caravan breakers yard. Most offer a mail order service, so you can do everything by phone. There is a list of breakers on our website or you could search the internet.

Sterling Europa 500L 2001 replacement kitchen tap

by Elaine
(Peterborough)

Where can I buy a replacement kitchen tap for my Sterling Europa caravan. Fitting is not an issue so I just need to replace the external part of the tap.

Your best bet would be to go to your local dealership. However, if you know the model of the tap you want, you could search on line for a cheaper price.

Waste Drainage Points

We have a 4 berth 1999 Bailey Banger, should we have 3 waste drainage points ?

Some caravans have three drainage points, whilst other just have two. I know Lunar have 3 on certain models and our Bailey Senator has just two.

Cold Water Pipes Replacement or Clean?

by Billy Wizzzz
(Gloucestershire)

I have just purchased my first caravan - it's an Avondale Avocet 1996 and have just had it fully serviced. The guy servicing it says because my cold water pipes are the clear type and look a little dirty inside I need to replace them with the blue (John Guest) cold water pipes and I understand this can be a devil of a job but would it not be possible to use Puriclean and not have to bother with such the hassle of replacing the pipes?

When we bought our very first caravan, which was a 1989 ABI Monza, we had the same problem. What we used was a solution of Milton. We bunged the waste outlets to stop the water draining away and then filled the Aquaroll with Milton and water and turned on the taps until the sinks filled up and then left it for 24 hrs. We then drained the water and flushed the system with fresh water. This did the trick. We tend use bottled water anyway so we were not too concerned about what came out of the taps as long as it was clean.

Water leak in a Swift Corniche

by Phil
(Dorchester)

We have a Swift Corniche and have just replaced the water pump as we had no water coming through the taps and when fitted to the battery terminals the pump would not go round, this is now working and cold water coming through the taps. We have a intermittent noise from the pump every 10 minutes or so even when the taps are not on and we now have water in two very large patches on the floor between the fire and cooker. They are very wet and no amount of drying with fires, hot water bottles etc is working. We assume that we must have a leak in a pipe somewhere. Has anyone else had this problem and how did you fix it as it seems we are looking for a needle in a haystack. Many thanks.

If you had the pump fitted by a dealer, take it back to them and tell them to sort it out. If you fitted it yourself, I would still recomend that you ask your local dealer to fix it for you. They will have all the expertise and will probably be able to fix it quite quickly.

Loss of pressure
by: Meadowman

The intermittent noise from the pump is because you have a leak somewhere and the pump is working correctly by keeping up the pressure in your water system. Check any pipes for leaks. It is usualy the connecters.

draindown

Hi,
I have a year 2000 atlas lodge static caravan and I can't find the manual, with winter on its way I need to drain the caravan hope you would be able to locate one for me Hopefully MR K CULLEN

One of our friends have a static and they get the maintenance staff from the park that their caravan is sited to do the drain down for them. They do get charged for it but they say it gives them peace of mind to know that it is done properly. Perhaps you might consider having this done with your caravan.

Water problems

by Pixierose
(Manchester)

I have a hobby executive about 7 years old , I now have to run the bathroom tap so I can get water from the kitchen tap ! Why is this ? What's the problem ?

It sounds to me that the micro switch in your kitchen tap has gone. Try changing the micro switch in the kitchen tap and it should then work.

Water tank of Sterling Explorer

Just purchased a Sterling Explorer 2010. Have connected the hose to outside of van and turned on. Water flows from taps inside van but tank doesn't fill. And if I do manage to fill the tank how do I drain it.

We have a Bailey Indianna with an onboard tank. What we have to do is change the valves to divert the incoming water from the aquarol to fill the tank. The valves are normally located near the water heater. To drain the tank, there should be a drain point under the caravan.

Draining Fleetwood Heritage Onboard Water Tank

My husband recently died very suddenly and I'm trying to winterize the caravan but can't find in the instruction manual how to drain the onboard water tank.

Can anyone help?

We are sorry to hear about the death of your husband.

I think there should either be a drain plug valve located underneath the caravan close to where the onboard water tank is located. Once you have located the valve, simple turn it to open it and drain away the water. If it is not located underneath the caravan, the it should be located inside the caravan next to the onboard tank.

However, If anyone owns a Fleetwood Heritage Caravan, and knows exactly where the valve is located, please let us know and we will pass on the information

Ace Globestar Supreme 2006 - Sink tap not working

by Terry
(Cornwall)

Tap working fine, then it just stopped, you can hear the micro switch on hot & cold. lifted pump out of water & put tap on but no movement from pump.
the shower is working & the sink in toilet also working.
tried pump on another caravan working fine

Try chnaging the micro switch on the tap. Although you can hear it, it might need changing. They are not expensive and would be a cheaper alternative to buying a new tap.

ABI Daystar tap micro switches

by Graham Barnett
(United Kingdom)

Please could you tell me where the micro switches are for the taps on a 1983 ABI Daystar are ?
Thank you.

It would depend on what the taps are. I would image that on a caravan of this age, they would be located by reaching under he sink and then locate and slip off the spring collar. It might be a bit tight and fiddly though. If it is a mixer tap then it should be located inside the ta at the top. To access this, you will need to take off the operating lever by removing the hot/cold indicator to reveal an attachment screw.
