Water Pump

by Tracey
(Wolverhampton)

Do you know - should the yellow stop valve be pointing upwards or lying flat to enable the water to come through to the taps. Many thanks.

By the sounds of the valve you are describing, this valve is the drain valve for your water heater. The valve should be in the down (closed) position. If you want to drain the heater it should be in the up position.

Water pump
by: peter

I have a Swift Merlin 564/4 with an internal water pump. On the electric panel I have got a warning E-1 and advised to contact Swift. Can E rectify this myself as I am away in the caravan?

As this problem involves caravan electrics we would always advise contacting Swift as it is always better to be safe than sorry. Swift may say it is something you can fix yourself - but surely it's better to check first?

Pump Problems.

by Josie
(Leeds)

I have just bought a 1994 Avondale Mayfly and when I connect the pump I have to turn the tap on in the bathroom before the kitchen sink tap will work and if I turn off the bathroom tap it stops working.

It sounds like that the problem is being caused by a the microswitch on your kitchen taps. You probably need to replace the microswitch. It is not a difficult job but can be a bit fiddly. Make a note of the model of your kitchen tap and ask your dealer for a microswitch for that model. You could also ask them how to replace it and they should be able to tell you.

Dart Spey Pump

Do you know where I can purchase a pump dart spey for an ABI Award Morningstar 1985 model? Any help you could give me would be much appreciated.

I would try some caravan breakers yards as they have lots of different items in stock. They will need the exact model you require and can usually post the item to you if they have it in stock. If you look on our website on the Caravan Spares page, this gives you a list of caravan breakers.

Hope the above helps and please do not hesitate to contact us again should you require further assistance.

Water Pump

My caravan is about 16 years old and it is fitted with a dart spey water pump which is broken. Where can I get another or one similar? Cheers, Rob

You could try a caravan breakers yard. A list can be found on our website. Just click on our Site Map and then scroll down to Miscellaneous and you will find a section headed "Caravan Spares & Caravan Breakers". Most breakers offer a mail order service.

Water Pump

(Leeds)

I have a carver water pump in my caravan - the type of pump is a dart spey. Where can I get one or one similar to it either second hand or new? I live in Leeds, West Yorkshire.

Try the local caravan dealers in your area. They should be able to supply you with what you need. But if you are looking for a second hand pump, you could try searching the internet (Ebay is usually a good place to start) or you could try a caravan breakers yard. There is a list of breakers on our website.

Correct Water Pump?

by Ian Davison
(Sunderland)

I have just bought an immaculate 1985 Buccaneer caravan but before I collected it from the storage compound where it was kept someone stole the waterpump (it fits under a flap on the offside of van). The previous owner fitted a new pump but on trying it at home the water just trickles out of the kitchen taps and nothing from the shower. Is the pump strong enough?. It is a Crystal maxi pump with the numbers 43/2003 and 022406 on it. The system in the van is a Carver cascade. The origional paperwork which I was given says either a Dart or Spey pump should be fitted. ANY HELP AND ADVICE WELCOME,

Thanks
Ian

There was probably nothing wrong with the pump itself. The problem probably lies with the microswitch in your taps. I would advise that you book your caravan in for a full service at your local dealer and ask them to check the switches for you.

On Board Water Tanks & Pumps

I have just bought a used caravan it is a 2008 Bailey Senator Wyoming which has an on-board water tank and can also use water straight from the water carriers. When I use it this way the pump keeps making a sound as though it is pumping water even when I am not using it. Is this normal?

We sometimes have this problem. We found the solution was to turn off the pump at the control panel and then remove the submersible pump from the aquaroll and give it a good shake to remove any air bubbles. Then re-insert the pump into the aquaroll and turn the pump back on. This should cure it hopefully.

ONBOARD WATER TANK

Check that the onboard water tank hasn't got a loose pipe or a leak. If the tank is leaking the pump will continue to run.

Water Pump Trouble
by: Anonymous

I have this problem too. The pump will be running whilst I'm using it then it will carry on pumping and being noisey after I've turned the tap off - it's driving me mad. Had someone out to look at it - they said they fixed it but it carried on where it had left off last. Aghhhh

Water Pump

by Pollie
(Belfast)

Hi,

Just bought a swift corniche 87. The Whale water pump was working fine but all of a sudden it won't stop. Checked water level ok ended up pulling fuse any ideas help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks.

I should imagine that you have trapped air in your submersible pump. Try removing your submersible pump and give it a good shake and then try it again. Please also make sure the the valve for the water heater is shut because this automatically fills up when you insert the pump and switch it on.

Water Pump Not Working

by Richard
(Ripon)

Hi,

My caravan is 22yrs old and the water pump did work but only buzzes now and no water is coming through the taps. Is there a nack to it?

Thanks

You may find that you need to change the pump. I would advise that you take your pump to your local dealer and they should be able to tell you if it needs replacing or not.

Why is my whale water pump continously running

by Phil
(Bristol)

Hi, I have a Elddis Crusader Superstorm, and i purchased a new Whale premium pump when replacing the original, a crystal maxi pump which plugs in the side and drops in my water barrel, the pump keeps running, I have checked the micro switches on the taps and all are working, although I cannot find a secondary in line pump anywhere, or any type of adjustable valve, which I have read about on different forums,it was all working well before winter storage. can anybody help please?

This is a common problem with submersible pumps when not used for a while. Bascically what you have is trapped air inside your pump. To remove the trapped air, remove your pump from the water container and give it a shake. Then put the pump back and switch it back on.

It wasnt trapped air but thanks anyway.
by: Phil

Have found the problem!!!

On the Elddis Crusader Superstorm there is a outside shower unit.....on the shower is 2 x micro switches one for the hot and the other cold, one of these was stuck on, which meant it was asking the pump for water constantly. Switch replaced and now all back to normal.

So i hope this helps others, and now you wont have to spend all day on it like i did.

Cheers

Phil

Water Pump - Bailey Pageant

What is the model of the water pump on a 2005 Bailey Pageaant monarch series 5?

Not sure on this. Your best bet would be to either go to your local Bailey Caravan Dealer and ask them or send Bailey Caravans an email. Their email address is helpline@bailey-caravans.co.uk

Leak followed by no hot water
by: Traceyann

Hi I'm new to caravanning! We took the caravan out first time since last season, cold water and pump was fine but hot water wouldn't work, the unit was getting hot. We found a pipe had come off it and caused a leak under chairs, so I put it back on with the jubilee clip, still no hot water. I didn't drain the system properly before the winter and am worried that's what's caused the problem. Advice on what to do would be gratefully received! :-) thank you

Elddis Elf 1995 - Water Pump

by Ray Bigham
(Lancashire)

Hi, does anyone know where I can purchase the pipe that draws the water from the fresh water barrel and fits into the side of the caravan and also has an two pin electrical socket attached and does the Elf have an onboard water tank? New to caravaning have to get it right for first time out because my wife not so sure about my new venture
Regards Ray

You should be able purchase what you require from your local caravan dealer. They will be able to advise you of the correct water pump that you need. As for the onboard tank, I don't think that the Elf has one. Your water is obtained direct from your water container using the water pump that you need.

Water pump leaking outside the van

by Jason
(Peterborough)

The water pump on our Avondale Dart 515-4 has started leaking water as soon as I plug the pump into the van I have replaced the o rings on the outer portion of the van socket but this did not solve the problem any ideas?

My first port of call would have been to change the o rings, but as you have said this has not worked, so I am a bit stumped. Has anyone else got any ideas?

Pump leeking water out side caravan!
by: Anonymous

I am having the same problem with my 2001 Bailey Ranger. I have also replaced the Whale pump after replacing the O rings. I have narrowed it down the the pump housing outside and on the caravan itself needing to be replaced. This will cost around 50 pounds to do!

Water Pump

by Wilvers
(Torfaen, Wales)

Hi,
i wonder if you can help me?

I have an Abbey Spectrum 535...

The water pump is working great in the shower, washroom, however, the Kitchen sink will not pump water?!?!

I have had a look underneath the sink unit and all the wires seems ok...

Please bear in mind that its been working fine this morning, but now it wont work at all?!

I have had a look around the internet and it advised that the Microswitch on the tap could be faulty?

Would this be the case?

I look forward to your advise on this one.

The most logical answer would be that you have a faulty microswitch. I would advise that you go to your local caravan dealer, tell them the model of your kitchen tap and they should be able to supply you with the correct microswitch. They can be a bit fiddly to change but if you ask your local dealer, he will be able to advise you how to change it.

Bailey Ranger 380 Water Pump Leaking

I am having difficulty priming the system to remove air from the hot tap. The tap is spitting and water leaks from the external plug in point. The pump also makes a whining noise. Can this be remedied?

Firstly, change the 'O' ring on the external plug point. This should stop the leak. Next trace all the pipes to make sure there are no kinks. We found the best way to rid any airlocks is to open all the taps whilst the pump is on. you should slowly find that any air will be released and the water should then run freely.

Caravan Pump

I have a bailey pageant and water is coming out of the pump where it is connected into the caravan, can't get it to come out of the taps, tried shaking it to get any air out.

You might have to change the O rings on the conection where the pump fits onto the side of the caravan. Your local dealer should be able to supply you with what you need.

Sterling Europa 565 2011 Water Pump

by Gary Howard
(Manchester)

I seem to have an issue with the water pump on my new Sterling Europa 565. each time i turn a tap on it makes a terrible noise and secondly the hot water is not working!! I have not looked to see if it is repairable under the warranty as the dealer is a long way from where the van is stored and would look at trying to sort it myself, if I can.

As this is a new caravan, you really need to get this sorted out by the dealer. What I would suggest, is that you telephone the dealer and explain to them exactly what is wrong. If it is still under warranty, then any Sterling dealer should be able sort this out for you. Ask the dealer you bought the caravan from to contact a dealer closer to where you store your caravan

Pump Problem Sterling Europa 565
by: Anonymous

I had the same problem with my 2011 Sterling Europa 565. The dealer was not helpful and he reported there was not a problem with the pump itself.

We have replaced the submersible hose with a new one and that seems to be working. I also smear vaseline on the end of the hose that connects to the van. This may help
