Swift Window
by Mr Hiscocks
(Wilts)
Do you know whether I can just replace the double glazed unit on my Challenger caravans side window? It is cracked and definitely needs replacing. Any help much appreciated. The answer is yes. It is not a difficult job to do. Your best bet would be to source a window from a breakers yard. Most offer a mail order service, so distance should not be a problem. A list of breakers can be found on our website.
You could also try a local Swift dealer and they should be able to get one and fit it for you.

My Windows Have Stuck
by Ian
(Fife, Scotland.)
The windows on my caravan have stuck - Does anyone know how I would go about releasing the perspex from the rubbers or how have you done it? Many thanks.
The answer is very gently. Try using a silicon based spray (furniture polish will do). Spray the rubber from inside the caravan and gently run your finger round the seal allowing the polish to penetrate between the window and the seal itself. Now unlock the window and gently easy the window open from the bottom. It might be easier doing this from the outside by pulling the window open at the bottom. Once you have opened the windows, clean both the window and rubber seal with warm soapy water. Once the seal is dry, spray some silicon on a cloth and then wipe round the seal. This should stop the window from sticking again.

Condensation Inside Windows
by Jasper
(St Austell, Cornwall, UK)
Do you happen to have any ideas on how to get rid of condensation from the inside of one of my caravan windows? Any help you could give would be much appreciated.
The way we used to solve this was by removing the small plug on the window and then gently blow warm air into the hole using a hair dryer. You must however be careful not to hold the hair dryer too close to the window. See if that helps!

Water Between The Front Main Window
by Michelle
(Cirencester)
Our caravan now has water between the front main window panes after we had cleaned the roof. What would be the best way to deal with this problem ? Thanks.
I pressume you mean that you have some form of condensation inside the actul window itself. If this is the case, in one of the corners of the window there will be a small plastic plug. Remove the plug and then use a hairdrier to blow warm air into the window to dry it out. Be careful not to have the heat from the hairdrier too hot as this could damage the plastic. Once dried out, replace the plug and you are done

Replacement Window
by Justine
(BB2 6NG UK)
Do you know where I can get a front window for an old Perle Orion caravan, (broken by vandals) 60 inch wide by 24 inch deep. If not available is there any other way to fix it? I would rather not scrap the van and as I'm a pensioner and can't afford to replace it. Thanks, Justine
The best place to find any spare parts for an older caravan is usually a Breakers yard. If you look on our website on the page called Caravan Spares there is a list of breakers on there. Telephone them or e-mail them with your requirements and, if they have it, they will usually be able to post the item to you. Hope this helps.

Windows
by P Humphrey
(Nottingham)
Just bought a brand new Bailey Olympus 462, got it home and noticed scratches to all three front windows like some ones took awire brush to them.dealer taken it back to try to get them out but I think they will not be good enough. Bearing in mind this is abrand new, not been touched by me what is my legal position, thanks.
If you are not satisfied, ask the dealer to replace all the windows that have been scratched. This should all be down under your Bailey Warranty. We had a few niggles that needed sorting out when we bought our Bailey Senator Indiana and the dealer fixed all the faults totally free of charge. If you get no joy with the dealer, go direct to Bailey and make a complaint to them and I can guarantee that they will want to sort it out.

On my caravan the bonding between the window has let go causing water to seep in. Could this be repaired, and if so how or where? Thank you for your help with this.
Your best bet, would be to replace the window. You probably could get one through a caravan breakers yard. It would be cheaper that buying a new one and most breakers offer a mail order service. A list of breakers can be found on our website. Just click on our site map and then scroll down to the Miscellaneous section and there you will find a heading called Caravan Spares & Caravan Breakers

Window Replacement for Adria
I have a replacement window for an Adria caravan. Is it easy enough to replace it and if so how can i do this? It's the big window at the front of the tourer, I thought you could just slide it off but I'm having trouble. Thanks
Replacing windows can be quite easy if the window is on a flat surface, but can be a bit more difficult if is seated in a recess. The first job is to remove the end cap and any block which is just fitted below. Any window stays and fittings need to be removed (these can then be used on the new window). If the window is seated in a recess, you will need to remove the plastic insert on the aluminium trim that holds the window and then remove some of the retaining screws (enough screws to gently pull the trim away from the recess. This should then enable you to slide the window out of it's channel.

Abi Tristar Replacement WIndows
by Tasha
(Cardiff)
I have an ABI Tristar caravan and some looney has smashed the near side slanting window but I have not got a clue where to get one from. I have checked ebay and my local caravan breakers but nothing and I am desperate as taking the children away in 3 weeks for Easter . I don't mind travelling if I have to.
Your local dealer should be able to source one for you. However failing that, your best bet would be to source a window from a breakers yard. I know you have tired your local breakers yards but most offer a mail order service, so distance should not be a problem. A list of breakers can be found on our website.

Bailey Ranger Window Fitting
by Tony
(England)
How do I remove and refit large front window to a Bailey Ranger 500/5(2005)
First, you have to remove all the internal fittings on the window. Then remove one of the end caps on the outside of the caravan and gently slide the window out of the runner. Becareful not to scratch the front panel of the caravan whilst doing this. It would probably be best to use a dust sheet. Once you have removed the old window, replace the new window in reverse order.

Plastic Plugs in Caravan Windows
How do you remove the plastic plugs in caravan windows as I have got condensation between the two panels.
We have had this problem and I just used a really small screwdriver to prise them out (being carefull not to scratch the window). After removal, I used a hairdryer on the lowest setting to remove the condensation.

Closing a Window
by Shaun Clark
(Sheffield)
How do you close a caravan window after it has locked open? There must be a knack but i haven't found it?
On either side of the window are 2 struts which have locking points. When you open the window to the desired opening, you just tighten the locking points to keep the window open. To close the window, simply untighten the locking points and your window should close. If the window is stiff to close, spray the shaft of the struts with silicon.

Polyplastic Window Colour
by Kevin Johnson
(Hull)
Hello We recently had one of our windows replaced on our caravan and when we received it back the new window was a different colour to the original ones still on the van. I questioned this as I thought they had fitted the wrong colour but was told that the new one would fade in colour over time to the same as the others and that the original ones would have been that colour to start with. The supplier is polyplastic and I was told that this is a common feature for this material, is this right? have you heard of this? Thankyou Kevin Johnson
I did read an article in a magazine a while back about someone who had a similar problem but I can't remember what the response was.
If anyone knows the answer to this question, please let us know and we will post the answer on our website.

Water in Front Window
by Harold
(Dukinfield Cheshire England)
Do you know how I get the water out of the front caravan window as it has collected there. My caravan is a Swift Corniche 1999. Many thanks in advance.
I presume you are talking about condensation. On each window there should be one or two plastic plugs, depending on the size of the window. You need to carefully remove these plugs and then use a hairdryer to blow the warm air into the hole. This should then dry up the condensation. Just be care not to have the setting on the hairdryer too hot and make sure that when you are blowing into the hole that the dryer itself is not too close to the window. If the dryer is too close or too hot then it can damage or even start to melt the plastic.
