Register a Caravan
received the log book from previous owner, but how do I register it in my name. Any help would be much appreciated. If the caravan was manufactured after 1992, then it should have been registered with CRiS (Caravan Registration and Indentification Scheme). UK-manufactured caravans were issued with a Vechicle Identification Number (VIN) and this number together with the owner's information were recorded at CRiS headquarters. The VIN was also etched on the caravan windows and the owner received an ownership certificate. If you have received that certificate from the previous owner, then follow the instructions on the certificate for change of ownership and send it back to CRiS. They will then change their records and issue you with a new certificate. If however, you do not have a certificate, look on your caravan windows for the VIN and make a note of it. Make sure that all the numbers on the windows are the same. You will then need to phone CRiS giving them the number and they should be able to issue you with a new certificate (providing the caravan has not been reported as stolen).
