Tow Car

We have a Bailey Pageant Imperial CD (circa 1994), 3 berth, that we tow with a Mondeo. Unfortunately, this car has been written off in an accident. In the interim, would a Vauxhall Zafira 2.0l tdi (2005) be legal and safe alternative to tow with?
